Nokia issued a battery recall today covering 46 million of their BL-5C batteries. Batteries manufactured by Matsushita between December 2005 and November 2006 are covered in the recall. Nokia says that the battery could overheat during charging and has the potential to dislodge.
About 100 cases of overheating have been reported so far, all of which occured during battery charging. Nokia is offering to replace the battery free of charge on any phone covered in the product advisory. The following models are affected:
